Elegy For Audrey Hepburn

Introduction: I did this poem as an elegy for Audrey Hepburn because I am one of her biggest fans. In my opinion Breakfast at Tiffanies is one of the best movies ever made. Her elegance and grace defined her as an icon and I wanted to share my appreciation and admiration for her in this piece.

The pinnacle of beauty during her reign of Hollywood
Audrey took the stage and created the movies that we so love
Everyone knows that old movies are far better than the modern
We miss the class and fashion that she brought to every event
We miss the spark of life she brought to the screen

She redefined what acting meant and transformed the standard
She was more than just an actor, she was an idol
A deity of sorts for little girls around the world
She didn’t just make movies, she was a philanthropist
A fashion icon who was full of humor and laughs

She understood emotion such as pain and love which she brought to every show
She was the perfect picture of grace and innocence
With movies like My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffanies
She showed us what it meant to have poise
She cared about the world and volunteered to help the less fortunate

Every girl wanted to be her or at least become one piece of her
She had every quality that girls aspire to have
And her life held all the glamour yet modesty that made her who she was
The famous scenes that we have come to know will be glorified for ages to come
Her influence will stretch through time her legacy will never be forgotten
